About Soul Motion

A spiritual practice of intimacy with ourselves, with each other, with all others, and with life – an invitation to free ourselves from numbness into presence, from a conditioned self into a creative loving being, from being a slave to be yourself. My mission is to create a relaxing, safe enough, and nurturing place in our classes, workshops, one-on-one sessions, retreats & training. Those formats are an invitation for you to get in touch with yourself, deepen the connection with yourself, support your personal healing, as well as to accompany your personal development in a direction that makes you happy and content. Life is a journey. May your path lead you to a resting place within yourself, so you always have a place to return to and call HOME.

Whenever we cannot find the right words or whenever words are not enough, the body speaks. Whenever our intellect is not effective, the body speaks. To understand our body’s language, we need space for silence and trust.

In a framework that creates trust, we want to jointly recognize and resolve what prevents us from going our way with confidence and trust. We cultivate what nourishes and strengthens to get in touch with ourselves in the most honest way.

About Saskia 

I bring more than 20 years of experience as a Creative Dance Therapist (BA), Yoga Teacher (registered experienced teacher at Yoga Alliance & provider of continued education ), an alternative practitioner of psychotherapy, and authorized Soul Motion™ teacher to the holistic approach of body and soul work. I studied and taught in Europe, Central, and North America.

I thrive for grounded spirituality that integrates movement & stillness, serenity & commitment, shaking off & letting in.

What is Soul Motion

SOUL MOTION IS A CONSCIOUS DANCE PRACTICE & MOVEMENT MEDITATION.

Meditation describes a condition where our attention is focused, either on one specific object (inclusive attention) or it is rather open and exclusive.

Holding attention requires specifics such as e.g. creating a safe enough space where we are uninterrupted, the willingness to practice the shift between “there & here”, the openness to receive the moment as it is, and the readiness to be moved & be changed.

Focusing attention is a process of learning to come back to a chosen (or given) reference point. It opens a space for listening and observing what is shifting, where the shift is happening, and what the result of this process is.

It is a practice for evolving within the relationships that our life consists of the relationship within my own self, with one other, with more than one other, and with the relationship we have with Spirit. To practice means making space, being committed, and concentrated on the matter of personal development, interconnectedness, and the intention that motivates our interaction with life in general.

IN SOUL MOTION WE OFFER OUR ATTENTION TO OUR BODY AND ALL THAT IS HOUSED WITHIN IT:
INSTINCT, SENSATIONS, INTUITION, AND FEELINGS.

Within this movement meditation practice, we gradually stimulate body awareness and the awareness of the moment. Both offered external exercises as well as interior attention invite us to anchor ourselves in our own body, to ground & center ourselves, as well as to inhabit the space we occupy.

This process is called conscious embodiment: a gradual training from a dominant mental identification to a more feeling- heartfelt sense- identification with life´s relationships. It makes an important contribution to reshaping patterns of behavior and thinking.

 

How can it help me

That we can go through our lives with (more) trust, confidence, and a “YES” in our hearts, whether timid or full of strength…

That we learn techniques and exercises that serve as a reminder in times of turmoil and stabilize us in our everyday lives.

To strengthen our own intuition, to give our bodies and their signals sufficient space and time and listen to it…

That we encounter the magic of life with gratitude and appreciation…

That we take personal responsibility for our dreams and wishes with compassion for ourselves and others.

That we always remember to let go and enjoy the here and now.

That we never forget to laugh, to love, and also to shake hands with strangers.

That we see ourselves as part of nature, plants, and animals, treat them with respect and meet them with humility.

 

What is Conscious Embodiment

a gradual training of body awareness & contact with the awareness of the moment.

… the process that supports transformation & healing as it liberates us from our conditioned mind.

Its effects include

We practice paying attention towards WHAT IS, to receive what is present within ourselves, and to offer what is needed around ourselves.

When we are living from an embodied place we know how to come back to ourselves, where to return to when e.g. being anxious, distracted, when we feel misunderstood, not seen and heard or when being in an argument.

What is programme of Soul Motion

ARRIVAL TIME
We bring our attention to ourselves by either resting, relaxing, or moving. At this moment we gently and naturally connect with the need of our body and we let our heart speak. We begin to open ourselves to the gentle voice of our body and follow its impulses through shapes, different rhythms, and the expansion into space.

THE DISCOVERY TO EXPLORE DIFFERENT TOPICS THROUGH OUR MOVING BODY
An inquiry could be for example to track the movement of the breathing in our bodies, to explore the dynamics of closeness and distance in the dance with another dancer or to explore shapes of opening and closing.

DANCE INTIMATE | DANCE COMMUNION | DANCE COMMUNITY | DANCE INFINITE
We move through four relational landscapes:

DANCE INTIMATE – WE MOVE ALONE
We renew our relationship with our body as a shifting shape in space.

DANCE COMMUNION – WE MOVE WITH ONE OTHER
We lift our gaze to open our attention outwardly. Inspired by interior impulses, sensations, and images, the dancer begins to relate and communicate with one other.

DANCE COMMUNITY – WE MOVE WITH EVERYONE
We have an open gaze as we begin to move in ever widening circles, receiving and transmitting information and inspiration to the larger dance happening all around us.

DANCE INFINITE – WE MOVE OUR PRACTICE TO THE EVERYDAY LIFE AND OPEN TO THE POSSIBILITY OF THE FEELING SENSE OF INTERCONNECTEDNESS
Dancing beyond. What happens in the dance room is a template for the everyday dance in the living world. We move out from the dance room, sensing our environment more clearly, communicating with others with enhanced perception, and relaxing more readily with the challenges and obstacles that may occur before us.

OPEN DANCE EXPLORATION
As Soul Motion is a practice of listening to the space “in-between”, we want to explore all parts of ourselves beyond the limitations we put on our creativity, possibilities and opportunities.
Here we allow the gentle touch of inspiration to give shape to our inner voices.
We give space to what and who we are: the wild, the gentle, the joyful, the vulnerable, the seeker and the founder – the connecting part of humanity.

CLOSING
We pause, reorient and rest before returning into our everyday dance. Here we listen to shifts, changes, new insights and gained perspectives. We listen to what our attention needs, to loving kindness and further exploration.
Moving from the heart allows the heart to speak its gentle and authentic voice. We give space to what needs to find a voice and we make space for what needs to be held in silence.

A few important guidelines for creating a mindful & attentive common space:
PRIOR TO ENTERING THE SPACE:
We come at least 10 minutes earlier, as we start on time.
We change into comfortable moving clothes.
We don´t bring our cell phones into the dance space.
We enter the space either barefoot or with dancing shoes.

WHEN ENTERING THE SPACE:
We dive into a welcoming silence and allow our bodies to speak.

WHEN SHARING:
We listen and speak to each other from our hearts.
We only speak from the “I,” refrain from cross talking, and only speak from our experience.
We don’t discuss or judge someone else’s experience.
This gives us a secure space to move and to tell our truth.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING:
Comfortable dance clothes
Water/Tee in reclosable bottles
Blanket (optional, when getting cold easily – for sitting or lying on the floor)

 

Who Can Participate

Everybody who likes to move and dance – no previous knowledge is required.
We invite everybody, who is willing to set sail on a journey to a present and authentic heart –
a journey back to our soulful essence
